Nature’s Own Rounded Copper Mug with Handle Smooth 500 ml

The pure copper mug with a handle is made by hand in India and is used in traditional Ayurveda for purifying and storing water. It will last you for many years, so it is an ecological and sustainable product that is also kind to nature.

Copper tableware is used for clean still water. Simply fill it in the evening before bed and let it rest. Drink the water in the morning after waking up. The mug is not suitable for acidic drinks (juices), which could react chemically with the copper. We also do not recommend using the mug for hot drinks and teas, because copper heats up significantly and you could burn yourself. You should handle the mug carefully, given the fact that it is a soft metal.

How to clean a copper mug

Over time, copper naturally undergoes a process of oxidation, due to which the metal turns black. In India, restoring its beautiful colour required only a mixture of salt and tamarind, which, however, is harder to obtain here. In our region you can restore the original appearance using lemon juice and salt, which you mix and use with a soft sponge to clean the surface of the bottle. If that is not enough, add a little vinegar and continue. Finally, rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not wash in the dishwasher and do not use common dishwashing products for cleaning!
Copper vessels in Ayurveda

Ayurveda views water from a copper vessel as one of the ways to balance all three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Storing water in a copper vessel works as a purifying process for the water, thanks to the antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of copper, which thus eliminates the formation of microorganisms and bacteria that could be present in the water. It also helps maintain a balanced pH of the body. Drinking water from a copper vessel in the morning on an empty stomach is a traditional way to support metabolism and improve the function of the immune system.

Notice: A change in colour is not a defect; it is a natural process of copper. Do not wash in the dishwasher. Do not use for hot or acidic drinks. Not recommended for people with a copper metabolism disorder. The product is the result of handcraft, so minor imperfections such as scratches and stains are not grounds for a complaint.
